Worksite Fitness and Rehabilitation have been working with CBH since late 2013 to assist in designing and implementing a holistic health, fitness, and injury prevention strategy.
Working at both the West Perth head office and outer metro sites, WFR currently deliver various health and fitness programs to CBH staff including fitness classes, gym management, health assessments, health presentations, fitness events and health challenges.
WFRs staff member, Penny Monks, delivers the Healthy Lifestyle Program 3 times a week at the various CBH locations around Perth. Penny completed her Sports and Exercise Science, and Rehabilitation degree at ECU, and although she may be petite, Penny has extensive experience with bodybuilding supplements, working alongside nutritionists and naturopaths during her uni years. Penny is also actively involved in dance and netball, and recently got married to James in April!
Health & Wellness Manager at CBH, Jemma Campbell, has noticed the biggest impact from the health program is the increased participation from the outer sites such as Bibra Lake, Kwinana and Forrestfield. This is due to a greater rapport with staff, and regular engagement in the program. And athough it can be difficult to visit the various ports, receival sites, and depots around each state, WFR engages remote staff with annual online Health Challenges including Step To Your Health and Race Around with over 200 staff interacting and competing against each other.
Health Programs are just one aspect of CBHs proactive wellness strategy. As part of the ongoing progression of the program, WFR and CBH are working together to introduce a Manual Handling course that will be delivered to the rural and metropolitan sites mid 2015.
